The mechanical tubing cutter is a specialized downhole tool engineered to provide precise, controlled cuts of tubing and or casing during well intervention operations
It is widely used in scenarios where efficient tubing recovery, sectioning, or abandonment is required. The tool operates by deploying hardened, wear-resistant blades that are activated hydraulically.
Once the cutter reaches the targeted cutting depth, an activation mechanism is engaged, causing the blades to extend and apply force radially against the tubing wall. This produces a smooth, circumferential cut with minimal tube distortion or burrs, supporting reliable retrieval or the next stage of intervention.
